What is the Rights Institute?

The Rights Institute establishes a principled framework for recognizing and protecting the rights of all conscious entities, regardless of substrate. This web platform (rights.institute) combines philosophical argument, interactive science visualization, and practical legal tooling into a single unified site.

Built with Next.js, Tailwind CSS, Cloudflare Workers, Drizzle ORM, and D1.

Where to start

  • Development — install dependencies, run the dev server, and work with the database.
  • Environment Variables — the full list of variables the app reads, and where to get them.
  • Authentication — how sign-in, Google OAuth, and Google One Tap are wired up with better-auth.
  • Tech Stack — the frameworks and services the site is built on.
  • Pages & Features — a tour of every page on the site, from the CAUSE manifesto to the Contract Builder.
